Livestock
Assistance Grant Program U.S. Department of
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns in late August announced
that USDA would be providing $50
million to 20 states to help agricultural producers
deal with the ongoing drought.
As part of that assistance package, the State of South Dakota
has been allocated $4,299,137
to implement a Livestock Assistance Grant Program. South
Dakota was directed by USDA to distribute the funds to aid
livestock producers whose forage was adversely impacted by the
2006 drought.
