The 2012 South Dakota Legislature approved House Bill 1029 which allows the Department of Revenue to publicly list delinquent persons who owe sales tax, use tax, tourism tax, municipal tax, municipal gross
receipts tax, contractors’ excise tax, motor vehicle leasing tax or telecommunications gross receipts tax. This legislation provided the Department with some additional collection tools by posting the names of delinquent taxpayers.
Each person on this list received written notification 90 days before their name was posted.
Like many other states South Dakota relies on tax revenues to provide vital public services – from public safety and transportation to health care and education. When someone fails to pay the tax that is owed by law, everyone suffers, and honest taxpayers must shoulder an extra burden.
Any person on the list can pay the amount due by making a check payable to the SD State Treasurer and mail the check to : South Dakota Department of Revenue, Remittance Center, PO Box 5055, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-5055. Please include your license number on the check.
