New State Fair Manager Hired

(Pierre, SD) --- Secretary of Agriculture Larry Gabriel announces the hiring of Susan Hayward as the new State Fair Manager.

Hayward, a Utah native, has extensive experience working with fairs and celebrations. She has worked in marketing, sales, public relations and most recently as special events coordinator for the Utah State Fair. Her experience has also been augmented by her work in local government and by directing such events as the "Days of '47 Rodeo."

"We were fortunate to receive applications from a large number of highly qualified individuals for the State Fair Manager position," said Secretary of Agriculture Larry Gabriel. "While many of the applicants would have made good fair managers, we were very pleased that our top choice, Susan Hayward, accepted the position."

Cindy Frederick of Hayti and member of the State Fair Commission was also part of the team searching for a new fair manager. "Susan will be a great addition to the State Fair," said Frederick. "Her communication and organization skills, along with her experience, will be a real asset."

Susan mentions that she is looking forward to living in Huron. "I was really impressed by the people I met during my visit," she said. "I think the South Dakota State Fair has great possibilities, and I can't wait to get started." She begins her new responsibilities at the end of the month.
