Michael Glynn Memorial Checkpoint
RAPID CITY, SD –Just over three years ago, Michael Glynn, a Belvidere teenager, lost his life in a drinking and driving crash. He was 18 years old.
To memorialize his death and remind others not to drink and drive, the South Dakota Highway Patrol is holding a sobriety checkpoint in Michael’s name. The checkpoint will be held in Mellette County on May 23, 2009, in conjunction with a Michael Glynn Memorial Concert.
“The pain a parent experiences when a child is lost is more than anyone should ever have to bear. My hope is parents and kids will remember Michael’s story, and it will cause them to make responsible decisions,” said Joyce Glynn, Michael’s mother. “Michael’s death was preventable. Drinking and driving is preventable.”
