Aberdeen Area Highway Chip Seal Work to Begin
ABERDEEN S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will be chip sealing projects for the entire Aberdeen Area on Monday, July 20, 2009. The project areas are as follows:
- US Hwy 281 from Aberdeen north 3.5 miles - all lanes
- SD Hwy 27 from south of Langford north 8.7 miles
- SD Hwy 10 from one mile west of Houghton east to the SD Hwy 37 junction
- US Hwy 212 from the Potter County Line east 13.1 miles.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane. A short delay can be expected while traveling through the work area. Loose gravel will be present for a period of 36 to 72 hours after each day’s chip seal application. Traffic should travel at 40 MPH during this time frame. The permanent pavement marking is scheduled to be applied within 14 days of completion of the chip seal.
The prime contractor for the project is McLaughlin and Shulz of Watertown, SD.
