Major Injury Crashes on August 6th:
At approximately 6:40 p.m., a crash happened on I-90, 13 miles east of Sturgis, SD in Meade County. A vehicle driven by Karen Knipple, 39, of Cumberland, MD was traveling east on I-90 when the vehicle began to hydroplane and traveled into the median. The vehicle then traveled into the westbound lane where it struck a motorcycle driven Gary Page, 44, of Ontario, Canada. Mr. Page was wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Knipple sustained minor injuries.
At 6:36 p.m., a crash happened on SD 34 at the intersection of 131st Ave, four miles east of Sturgis, SD in Meade County. A vehicle driven by Ben Bazemore, 25, of Vermillion, SD was stopped at the stop sign on 131st Ave. Bazemore pulled out into the path of motorcycle driven by Greg Herman, 50, of Ontario, Canada. Herman and Bazemore collided. Herman received non-life threatening injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
