Major Injury Crashes on August 8th:
At 12:16 am, a crash happened on US 85, 12 miles south of Cheyenne Crossing in Lawrence County. A motorcycle driven by James Self, age 59, of Gering, NE, was traveling north when he swerved to miss an object in the roadway. The driver lost control of the motorcycle and laid the motorcycle on its side. Self was transported to Deadwood Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Self was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
At 8:50 pm, a crash occurred on SD 40, 6 miles east of Hermosa, SD in Custer County. A vehicle driven by Paul Ironcloud, 45, of Porcupine, SD was traveling east on SD 40 when he encountered a vehicle stopped on the side of the roadway. The other vehicle had its driver’s door open. Ironcloud struck the driver’s door of the parked vehicle. Ironcloud was arrested at the scene for DUI.
