Oldham to rehabilitate sewer lagoon, receives grant for project
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds says Oldham plans to rehabilitate its sewer lagoon and construct a 2.6-acre artificial wetland at the city’s wastewater treatment facility.
“Oldham has been awarded $191,500 from the Community Development Block Grant fund to help finance this project,” Gov. Rounds said. “Making these upgrades will bring Oldham up to code, and the city’s wastewater will be safer.”
The treatment system project includes purchasing land; excavation and undercutting; installing drainage fabric, riprap, piping, control structures and fencing.
The CDBG program provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Past grants have been used for improvements and construction of community buildings, fire halls, water systems, and sewer systems.
