Rapid City Man Claims $200,000 Powerball Prize

(Pierre) – Claude Smith of Rapid City today claimed the $200,000 Powerball prize he won in Saturday night’s drawing.

While Smith’s ticket missed winning the jackpot, it beat the 1:5,138,133 odds to win the game’s second prize for matching the five white balls, but not the red Powerball.

The winning ticket was sold at the Family Thrift Center in Rapid City. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

This is the sixth time this year the prize has been won in South Dakota. The estimated jackpot for the next drawing on Wed., Sept. 2 is $45 million.

Powerball is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:195,249,054.
