Saturday, October 25, Pierre, 2 p.m. (CDT) - The South Dakota State Historical Society continues its "Archives Month" activities as Lyndell Petersen of Hermosa, will present "Branding -- Proof of Ownership" at the Cultural Heritage Center, 900 Governors Drive. In the free program, Petersen will discuss the historic use of brands, the role that branding and brand inspection play in the cattle industry in the United States, and the evolution of the legal structure surrounding brands as proof of ownership.
