Lincoln County Crash Victims Identified
What: Double fatal car-motorcycle crash
When: Sunday, Nov. 8, 4:41 p.m.
Where: S.D. Highway 46 west of Hudson.
Driver 1: Donald Richard Burdick, 53, Hudson, fatal.
Passenger: Lori Mae Willette, 40, Delavan, Minn., fatal
Vehicle 1: 2004 Harley Davison
Driver 2: Delores Evelyn Jurrens, 77, Hawarden, Iowa, no injuries
Passenger: LaVerne Hughes Madock, 76, Hawarden, Iowa, no injuries
Vehicle 2: 2002 Pontiac Bonneville
HUDSON, S.D. – The driver and a passenger on a Harley Davison motorcycle died Sunday in a head-on collision with another vehicle on Highway 46 a few miles west of Hudson.
Donald Richard Burdick, 53, Hudson, was driving the motorcycle. Lori Mae Willette, 40, Delavan, Minn., was the passenger.
Burdick was driving east on Highway 46. The motorcycle crossed the centerline at a curve in the highway and collided head-on with a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville being driven west by Delores Evelyn Jurrens, 77, Hawarden, Iowa. Burdick and Willette were thrown from the bike. Neither was wearing a helmet.
Neither Jurrens nor a passenger, LaVerne Hughes Madock, 76, Hawarden, Iowa, was injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The LincolnCounty sheriff Hudson Fire Department and Hudson Ambulance assisted.
