Monday, November 23, Sioux Falls, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. (CST) - The Department of Labor will hold a Job Search Assistance Program (JSAP) at 811 East 10th Street. The JSAP is designed to assist and train job seekers on how to find and secure employment. Some topics included are networking, the hidden job market, resumes, applications and proper interview techniques. It is provided at no charge and open to the public. Monday, November 23, Sioux Falls, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (CST) – The Department of Labor will have a veterans’ employment representative on the campus of Southeast Technical Institute at the Mickelson Education Center located at 2320 North Career AvenueDOL can assist with employment assistance, support services, job search information, direct job referrals and eligibility determinations. Learn more at www.sdjobs.org.

Tuesday, November 24, Pierre, 7 p.m. (CST) – The Christmas at the Capitol 2009 Grand Lighting Ceremony will take place in the Capitol rotunda. The large South Dakota tree is decorated by the South Dakota Florists Association. It is a 45-foot Black Hills spruce from Camp Rapid, Rapid City, and was donated by the South Dakota National Guard. The lighting ceremony will feature a welcome from Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill, musical performances, and Christmas wishes from Governor and Jean Rounds.  Pre-event music begins at 6 p.m.  After the ceremony, kids of all ages can get their picture taken with Santa Claus in front of the South Dakota Tree, and refreshments, provided by Lynn’s Dakotamart, will be served on the first floor of the Capitol.  For more information, visit the state of South Dakota Web site at www.sd.gov and click on “Christmas at the Capitol 2009” for entertainment schedules, special events and displays.
