The Office of Tribal Government
Relations was previously known as the Office of Indian Affairs,
which was established in 1949 in accordance with Statute SDCL 1-4-1.
In 2001, Governor Rounds reorganized the Office of Tribal Government
Relations and the office is now under
Tourism and State Development.
The offices which make up Tourism and State Development with the
Office of Tribal Government Relations are: the
Arts Council,
Economic Development,
Housing Development Authority,
State Historical Society,
and the Office of Tourism.
